Is it easy to get a sunburn in Costa Rica?

Yes, so be careful! Costa Rica is very close to the equator (between 8o and 11o north), so even if you’re used to the sun, be extra cautious here and remember to use sun protection. You wouldn’t want your holiday to be ruined by aching skin! Prepare your beach bag with spf 30 or above sunblock, sunglasses, a hat and long-sleeved clothes for long walks on the beach.
It doesn’t mean you have to be covered up the whole time, but do be prepared and re-apply sunscreen every hour or so. Also, try to relax in the shade instead of in direct sunlight. You’ll still get a tan. Don’t worry!
