What should I bring for a Relaxing Vacation?
For a relaxing vacation, bring things that you feel relaxed with: a good book, your favorite pajamas, and a journal to pour your thoughts into. Other than that, think light. You really won’t need to bring a heavy suitcase. Here’s a list of some essentials to guide you in your packing:
-Quick-drying clothes (most of Costa Rica is very humid). Bring at least one pair of longer pants for shorts for in case you decide to do a little hike
-A swimsuit or swimming trunks
-One or two sets of warmer clothes for areas like San José and Monteverde, where nights are chillier (60oF)
-A rain jacket or poncho
-A pair of tennis shoes or hiking shoes for colder climates and in case you get inspired to do a little exploring
-Flip flops for relaxing at the hotel or at the beach
-Hat, sunglasses, sarong, and any clothes wear that will help protect you from the sun. Remember Costa Rica is only 10 degrees north of the equator, and the sun can be dangerous!
-Reusable water bottle
-Sunblock, insect repellent and your personal toiletries
-Any medications you require (there are drugstores in Costa Rica, but it’s best to bring your own just to make sure you don’t run out of a particular medication you rely on)
-Passport, driver’s license (plus copy of each) and credit card
Remember domestic airlines allow between 25 and 40 lbs maximum in your luggage, after which they’ll charge extra for each extra pound (about $1 per pound), so try to bring only the essentials!
