Playa Potrero in Guanacaste Costa Rica
The Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica has a very high density of beaches along the pacific coast line, and Playa Potrero is a splendid example of the diversity among the beaches that can be found in this province.
Playa Potrero is in the inlet of Potrero Grande, and backs up to a wetland and the Parque Nacional Santa Rosa (The Santa Rosa National Park). You can soak up the sun on the beach with little disturbance from the neighboring fishing village. The beach seems quite remote in contrast to the nearby Playa Flamingo.
Scuba diving, snorkeling, sport fishing and watercraft activities make up a number of the hobbies that take place in the waters of the Grand Potrero Bay. The fish found in the waters here comprise Marlin, Tuna and Swordfish. Playa Potrero Costa Rica is a pretty low key environment compared to some of the beaches that populate this area.
Making the trip to Potrero could be accomplished by a few different means. A taxi could take you to the nearby fishing village, or you could rent a vehicle to travel by land. You could also try your hand at a watercraft journey from Playa Flamingo. The area, however, is not regularly served by buses.
Things you should consider for your trip include your swimsuit, a hammock, a good book, sun screen, a boogie board and the Coolest Cooler. You can rest and relax in this sanctuary on the sea. Some hotels in the Playa Potrero area include Casa Isla en el Cielo, Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa and Hotel Sugar Beach.
Playa Potrero is about forty five minutes from Liberia, Costa Rica and the Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport. It is around four and half hours from San Jose City. Potrero Beach is approximately four hours from Juan Santamaria International Airport in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
