Pavones, Costa Rica is the last stopping off point for the intrepid riders of waves, and Playa Pavones in the Gulf of Sweetness offers some fantastic waves.

The closest large town from Pavones is Golfito, Costa Rica. From Golfito, Pavones is about forty four minutes down the road, and it is pretty much the end of the line for beaches in the south since it is near the border of Panama. It is also the only beach in Golfo Dulce that has good surf, although the surf is not always consistent. This beach is very popular among surfers, nonetheless. As surf is the major attraction in Pavones you may want to bring a swimsuit or wetsuit, a surfboard, a boogie-board, wax and sun screen. Pavones is known to have truly long rides, and this adds up to a lot of attention for the area. If surfing isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other things to do in Pavones, Costa Rica.

Sport fishing tours, canopy tours and horseback riding tours are just a few of the activities that people can engage in at Playa Pavones. There is also a yoga retreat in the area with classes and rooms available that goes by the name of Yoga Farm. Being that Golfito is served by the domestic airlines of Nature Air and Sansa Air, finding a flight into the area near Pavones, Costa Rica, is pretty simple. From there you could rent a vehicle or arrange a taxi or shuttle for the last leg of the trip. Golfito is also reachable by driving, so buses from the major areas in Costa Rica are easy to find as well.
