Corcovado National Park and Tortuguero National Park share some characteristics such as nesting sea turtles, but they also have some major differences.

Corcovado National Park

Corcovado National Park has an incredibly diverse biological make up, and has been declared one of the most biologically intense places in the world by National Geographic. There are beaches where sea turtles land such as Carate and others in Corcovado, and the park covers 45,757 hectares of land and 5,375 marine hectares. There are two peninsulas on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica being the Nicoya Peninsula, which is larger, and the Osa Peninsula. Corcovado takes up most of the Osa Peninsula.

Corcovado National Park in the Puntarenas Province of Costa Rica is also across the Sweet Gulf (Golfo Dulce) from Piedras Blancas National Park, and the waters of the Sweet Gulf are mating grounds for migrating humpback whales. Wildlife found in Corcovado includes 140 mammal species, 120 different types of reptiles and amphibians, 370 bird species, 6,000 types of insects (bring insect repellant) and 4 nesting sea turtle species.
