Not to be confused with the Railway Museum in Atenas, Alajuela, Museo del Ferrocarril was located near the national park and the downtown area of San Jose, Costa Rica.

The Museo del Ferrocarril was located on the Paseo de las Damas, which means “the ladies’ walking street” in English, up until the museum closed recently. It has been reopened as the Museo de Formas, Espacios y Sonidos, or the Museum of Forms, Shapes and Sounds in English, and is open to the public at the old Railroad Station of San Jose. Some of the old Railroad Museum still remains, and the building itself was constructed earlier in the 20th century.
