Manuel Antonio vs. Palo Verde: Where to go?
Palo Verde National Park
Palo Verde is no slouch in the beauty department either, but it doesn’t have the sweeping white sand beaches found at Manuel Antonio. Palo Verde National Park is considered a birders paradise for the impressive number of resident and migratory birds that pass through the canopy and waters of its tropical forest, but the birds are not the only wildlife inhabiting this exceptional national park in Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica.
Palo Verde National Park is found at the end of the Gulf of Nicoya, and the Río Tempisque, whose headwaters are found in the same area, can be a great way to tour the park. There are plenty of trails to head in on foot, also. Some of the animals you are likely to run into while visiting the park include the great egret, the grey heron, the great curassow, pumas, tayras, coyotes, coral snakes, crocodiles and iguanas just to name a few.
