These surf spots of Costa Rica represent some of the places that are both well-known and a little bit off the beaten path, so suit up, strap in and get ready to ride.

1. Esterillos Beach

South of Jaco, Esterillos Beach is pretty well known among the surfing community. Its breaks are not always as consistent as some of the other locations on this list, but it still serves riders with some great trips from time to time. The waves aren’t too crowded, and Esterillos would be a good place for beginners to pick up the tools of the trade.
