Where is the best surfing?

Both the Pacific and the Caribbean in Costa Rica have some world-class surf spots, for every level of expertise and in the most gorgeous natural settings. Salsa Brava in Puerto Viejo, for example, is a fun but very challenging spot best left to very experienced local surfers, as the waves can get really big and thrash around sharp, shallow reefs.
On the other hand Playa Hermosa in Santa Teresa has a long, right hand beach break, perfect for beginners, and also a good point break for more experienced surfers. There are dozens of great locations for surfing in Costa Rica. After all, who can beat its year-round warm waters and stunning forest view from an un-crowded wave
