Alajuela and Liberia host Costa Rica’s two international airports. The Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) is in Alajuela, at about a twenty minute drive from San José depending on traffic. The Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) is in Liberia, at about a four-hour drive from San José.
