There are Many Varieties of Insects in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is home to Army Ants, Stick Bugs, Golden Orb Weavers, scorpions, butterflies and many more insects that can both creep people out and amaze them.

Butterflies, Spiders & Pismires “Oh My!”

Insects and arachnids have interesting societies, defense mechanisms and stages of life that entomologists and arachnologists come to learn about first hand. Army Ants lay waste to anything (small) in their path, and Owl Butterflies often trick people and other animals into believing they are something they’re not. The strength of Golden Orb Weavers webs has been the subject of various tests as to its usefulness in medicine and bullet proof clothing.

Bugs Can be Creepy

It is completely understandable that people are freaked out by the minute world of bugs, but they are very interesting creatures, nevertheless. Army Ants form a sort of moving structure which houses there queens. Termite colonies can be as vast as five million members, and may spread from trees to the ground, and back into trees again. Glasswing Butterflies get their name from the transparent wings that are at once beautiful and mesmerizing.
