Herradura Bay is home to the fabulous Playa Herradura, Costa Rica, and its accompanying extravagant marina, exceptional golf links and magnificent resorts.

Herradura Beach is on the Pacific Ocean in the province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica. The beach and its associated area have many activities related to exploration, aquatic entertainments and other types of recreation. The Los Sueños Marina has a 200 slip boat dock where you’ll find a large number of different vessels. From the marina, there are many sport fishing tours.

The beach had been a sleepy fishing village up until recently. Now that the area is home to the largest resort in Costa Rica: Los Sueños Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort, the service sector is flourishing. The resort maintains an 18-hole golf course, an interlinking pool system with canals and swim up bars and multiple luxury accommodations, and yet the area remains as somewhat of a bastion of tranquility in the midst of many more frequented tourist locations.

Herradura is a black sand beach with two mountains making up the milieu. Along with Los Sueños Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort, some of the other area hotels comprise Hotel Villa Caletas, Casa Pura Vida and Zephyr Palace. There are more hotels in the city of Jaco to the north and the beach town of Punta Leona to the south, also.

When planning your trip to Playa Herradura you should bring a camera, a swimsuit, snorkeling or scuba gear, a fishing pole and tackle box and sun screen. The beach may entice you to just lay about and sunbathe or read at your leasure, so you may want to bring a tablet or kindle, too. The adventures in the rainforest preserve might be best served with hiking boots and gear.

The nearby beach town of Jaco, Costa Rica is served by both Nature Air and Sansa Air if you choose to take a flight to the area first. If driving, Herradura is two hours and twenty-two minutes from San Jose city. Juan Santamaria International Airport in Alajuela, Costa Rica is one hour and twenty-three minutes from the beach, and the international airport in Liberia, Costa Rica is three hours and twelve minutes away.
