Let’s go to Nosara Beach in Nosara, Costa Rica, and have a party in the sand while the sun sinks below the grand Pacific with the sound of waves as ambiance.

Nosara is a rather pristine location on the Nicoya Peninsula in the province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. It is quite possibly the oldest expatriate community in the area, and the Ostional Wildlife Refuge keeps the beach clear of big developments which have otherwise impeded the view at neighboring locations. This makes Nosara an ideal location to experience the beach in its more or less primal condition.

Nosara is also a thriving surf community, and yoga retreats are easily found in the town. There are zip-line tours in the adjoining forest. Tide pools make for interesting spots for explorers to see what the ocean has brought in. To catch a glimpse of the land-dwelling animals, wildlife rescues are to be found within and around the Nosara territory.

In the town of Nosara, Costa Rica there is a library, post office, market, pharmacy and school. Head six kilometers outside of the town and you’ll find the beach. The beach is home to Leatherback and Olive Ridley Sea Turtles who nest between the months of September and March and September and December respectively. Both of these species of sea turtle may be found nesting throughout the year, but only the Leatherback nests at night predominantly.

There are lots of places to stay in Nosara. Nosara is home to a world renowned Yoga school with accommodations, so packing might consist of loose clothes, a yoga mat, a surfboard, a camera and spare spending money. Some of the other other lodgings include Rancho Congo, El Ramal, Villa Mango B&B and Playas de Nosara. There are plenty of restaurants and bars as well such as La Luna, Bar La Banana and Tropicana Disco.

Nosara can be reached by plane, taxi, bus, rental car and the like. It is five hours and fifty one minutes from San Jose, Costa Rica. Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport in Liberia, Costa Rica is one hour and fifty one minutes away, and Juan Santamaria International Airport in Alajuela is four hours and one minute from Nosara. Flights can be found through Sansa Air and Nature Air, and most flights in Costa Rica are around fifteen to thirty minutes.
