Ocotal is reachable via plane through the city of Tamarindo and either Nature Air or Sansa Air. By car, mini bus or bus you can reach Ocotal in four hours and seven minutes from Juan Santamaria International Airport in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The international airport in Liberia, Costa Rica is only thirty eight minutes away on the road, and San Jose is three hours and twenty minutes from Ocotal.
