On the Pacific side of Costa Rica, Playa Ocotal serves the denizens of this gracefully elegant station on the sea with a daily taste of the serene.
The beach in the inlet of Ocotal is not expansive, but it offers a particular tranquility that is distinct from the more rambunctious Playa del Coco nearby. Sharks, octopi, Manta Rays and many species of exotic fish make snorkeling and scuba diving both exciting and rewarding ventures. Farther from shore, sport fishing tours are led by experienced fisher peoples of the area.
In the town of Ocotal, Costa Rica, there are a number of great restaurants with both typical Costa Rican fare and international cuisine. The Ocotal Beach Resort maintains a restaurant, whereas Los Almendros de Ocotal is equipped with villas containing kitchens and all the cook ware necessary to prepare your own meals. To facilitate a good stay at Ocotal you’ll want to bring snorkeling or scuba gear, a fishing pole and tackle box, a swimsuit, some good literature to pass relaxing hours on the beach and some ingredients to prepare some excellent dishes if you so choose. The Ocotal Bay is a place where the opulence is provided by the natural scenery, and the rest is at your discretion.
