Jamie Oliver Comes to Costa Rica for Casado
The famous celebrity chef Jamie Oliver made his way to a traditional Costa Rican kitchen, and posted pics and comments to his Facebook page as of June 8th, 2015.
Jamie Oliver posted to his Facebook profile:
“I’m Learning from the Costa Rican mumma’s !!:):) ❤ we had a really yummy lunch today. honest simple and delicious food, cooked on open wood fires by this smiley loverly lady …. Chicken and meat stews , corn rice , black beans , rice , cabbage salad ,quarter of an avocado ,tortillas, special chilli onion vinegar and ice cold tamarin water all enjoyed while all the local men watched football good times….. That’s the real stuff guys …. I’m having a good time here very hot for an Essex boy though.”
His visit coincides with the ICT’s (the Costa Rica Tourism Board) desire to make Costa Rica an important stop on any foodies list of countries to try the traditional fare, and he seems to be getting into the fervor of the fútbol culture of Costa Rica, also. Jamie Oliver is well-known for his programs that not only teach people how to prepare delicious meals, but also help people to save money while preparing healthy food.
The government is also backing the promotion of making Costa Rica a foodie destination. The Vice President Ana Helena Chacón recently signed a decree to work towards promoting the cuisine of Costa Rica as another means to increase tourism. English Chef Jamie Oliver must have got the clue earlier than others, and has headed here to try the casados, bocas, olla de carne and many other famous dishes from the land of Pura Vida.
Oliver may not being doing so well with the heat, but the food seems to be treating him right. Enjoy or as they say in Costa Rica, “Provecho!”
