6. Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve doesn’t only play host to the immaculate misty jungle in the sky, but it is also the abode of as many as 400 species of avifauna. Some birds are harder than others to see in the cloud forest, but you´ll be likely to see the Resplendant Quetzal, the Emerald Toucanet, the Blue Crowned Mot Mot and the Umbrellabird if you are careful. Be sure to bring some binoculars to get a better chance at catching a glimpse of the birds that live higher up in the forest canopy.
