Do you like frogs, turtles and snakes? Cause if you do, you are definitely going to enjoy your trip to Monteverde and to the Costa Rica Herpetarium.

As I probably told you before I’m not a big fan of snakes, so for me this was more of a test than it was a regular job. But it gave me the opportunity to learn a couple of things about these mysterious creatures and why not; confront my own fears.

Herpetology is the field of zoology that studies reptiles. Herpetariums hold a vast variety of them; such as:

• Iguanas
• Lizards
• Geckos
• Snakes
• Frogs etc.

The Herpetarium in Monteverde will take you inside the Costa Rican forest, with fully bilingual guides; visitors can answer their questions about any type of reptiles or interesting weird amphibians that you can find in the area and in Costa Rica in general.

As I walked through the well illuminated space where the terrariums are located, a sense of great tranquility came over me, I could finally asked the questions I needed to ask and have real verified information given to me in a completely safe environment.

They make it very easy for you to learn, at Sky Adventures Herpetarium in Costa Rica they have designed tours for everyone. The most curious tourist can take the hour-long tour to experience contact with nature. Check out the terrariums, see the amphibians in their natural environment and can maybe even, take a closer look at them with the help and guidance of the tour guides.

If you are looking for an educational experience, the Costa Rica Herpetarium will give you much clearer explanations on reptile behavior and nature. With information boards, photographs and pictures the interactive tour will teach you more about herpetology; you can take notes, pictures and ask all the questions you want about the species living in Costa Rica.
All frogs, snakes and turtles are well-preserved and good taken care off; each of the terrariums has been specially designed, for the specie that will hold.

We went during the day and came back that same night, because to make the most out of the experience, your admission ticket is valid for a couple of visits. Most of the species (like the magnificent glass frog) are nocturnal; and they become very active once the sun comes down.

The Sky Adventures Herpetarium in Monteverde is located in Santa Elena, next to the Banco Popular, the guided tour is about an hour long and there is no age limit to visit the Costa Rica Herpetarium.

Tickets are:

• Children: $8
• Adults: $13
• Students: $11
There is nothing better to learn than to have a visual guide, a detailed explanation broke down to you right front of your eyes. Don’t be afraid and just do it, fight your fears and have an up close and personal experience with a bunch of frogs and a lot of snakes.
