There are many ways to go river rafting from kayaking and canoes to the large inflatable rafts found on rapids all over the world. Inner tubing on a Costa Rica adventure vacation might be one that is a little less well-know, but this Costa Rica adventure activity will have you coming back for more.

A Unique Adventure Activity

There are more than 70 rivers and tributaries intermingling throughout the landscape of Costa Rica. That provides ample space for many different kinds of river based activities. Inner tubing is one such Costa Rica adventure activity which is gaining popularity with visitors from far and wide. This Costa Rica adventure travel will give you a rush while not necessarily breaking your penchant for excitement simultaneously.

Where to go?

Finding a river tubing excursion is a simple quest for those coming to Costa Rica set on a wet and wild ride. Some of the rivers playing host to this endeavor include; Savegre River, Rio Azul, the balsa and toro rivers near Arenal Volcano, Rio Negro etc. Anyone of these rivers could provide a singular Costa Rica adventure experience that would leave participants both soaked and pleased.

The river tubing trip in Rincon de la Vieja, for instance, is on the prominent Rio Azul, or Blue River in English. This beautiful river in the province of Guanacaste takes its name from the pigment of its waters. The Blue River is a shade of aquamarine due to the silt deposits which are of a turquoise hue. Green algae is also a contributor to the color of Rio Azul. The subtleness of the river’s natural color lends itself nicely to the inner tubing activity, and along the river’s path are waterfalls hidden in rocky ravines.

A Packing List for the Trip

Some of the things you may wish to take with you on your river tubing adventure in Costa Rica might be a towel, swim suit, waterproof sandals or neoprene boots, and a change of clothes. These trips usually last from five upwards of fifteen minutes at a quick pace. Tubing tours are usually operated between the hours of 9 am and 12:30 pm for the morning and 1 pm and 5 pm for the afternoon.

Items to Bring: towel, swim suit, waterproof sandals, neoprene boots
Times: 9 am-12:30 pm, 1 pm-5 pm
